A letter to the Ones Under Construction...
“Start rebuilding your perspective. Start rebuilding your thoughts about yourself. View yourself as a child of God, declare it, identify as it, teach people to treat you as it. The calling on your life is personal and it is your responsibility to nurture it. I am here to tell you to protect your calling at ALL costs.”
Dear beloved,
I am writing to you today to be your reminder that your Father is not done with you yet. God spoke to me through one of my recent devotions using Jeremiah 31. Where God creates a new covenant with Israel. He reassures the people of Israel that through their time of complete despair, He was always there and was planning redemption the whole time. He promises to build them up again. Since our God is the same today as He was yesterday, I want you to know God is still layering you with promises. Despite your age, your status, your circumstances, God is begging you to let Him change your heart.
Your God wants to rebuild you. He wants to rebuild the way you think, the way you love, the way you view the things around you. You went through your fire. You made it out broken and burned, but alive. Just as God promised you would whether you heard Him or not. You see the light at the end of the dark tunnel but you’re not quite there yet. You know there is contentment and completion somewhere near, but you're not quite there yet. If you are thinking to yourself, “I know there’s more from here but I have no idea how to get there.” I want you to know you are in SUCH a good place. It may not feel like it. Not knowing your next step is so scary, but it is necessary in order to fully understand that you cannot get there without taking God’s hand first. Sometimes some of the most painful seasons of your life are the most significant because God shows up and does his greatest work in you.
My best advice to you is do not imprison yourself. Do not let yourself circle back and forth and start running to what you have been running from for so long. You are so worthy of sticking up for yourself, you are so worthy of leaving what is taking advantage of you, you are so worthy of allowing yourself to be changed by the Father who has loved you enough to take you as you are but loves you too much to let you stay that way. Your God desires to heal your heart and He yearns for you. (Jeremiah 31:20) I know you may already know all of this and feel like it seems impossible to start your redemption process because the world just glorifies the finished product. You might be fearing the process because of what your friends, family, coworkers, classmates might view you as but I’m here to tell you that YOUR God glorifies the PROCESS because it shows those people how unfailing and constant He is. The picture you are so afraid of painting of yourself during your process might actually be the picture God is trying to paint of Himself to the ones watching. I know it’s hard to even imagine that you are in a place to be an example right now because of how unworthy and unqualified you might feel. But God is so pleased with you. You are still here, and you are still His child.
Keep your eyes on The Lord even when your feelings tell you to turn towards other things. The more you let yourself run to the things that are temporary and that will let you down eventually, the more you set yourself back. The scripture tells us to “Keep our eyes on things above.” (Colossians 3:2) So instead of dreaming and hoping for the future things, I challenge you to VISION yourself carrying out your calling, start praying and declaring your dreams to reality. Start rebuilding your perspective. Start rebuilding your thoughts about yourself. View yourself as a child of God, declare it, identify as it, teach people to treat you as it. The calling on your life is personal and it is your responsibility to nurture it. I am here to tell you to protect your calling at ALL costs. Meaning leave the things behind that hinder what God is asking you to do, forgive the person who is stirring the bitterness in the pit of your stomach everyday, letting go of the darkness that is hovering over you. The first thing that pops into your mind while reading this is most likely the first thing you need to start with. A road to redemption comes with a lot of uncomfortable adjustments and uncomfortable adjustments are something we spend our life trying to avoid. When God promised to completely rebuild Israel, I think it is safe to say a lot of adjustments were made by the people of Israel.
Beloved, you are doing better than you think you are. The world might tell you otherwise but it just doesn’t matter. Focus on your process for now. Keep starting everyday with the fact that in a world of uncertainty, your God is so constant. Some days might feel darker than others, but rest easily knowing God is showing you just how faithful He is through the darkest and most unproductive days. I am so proud of you beloved.
